CRUISE NEWS

The Newcomers and Newcomers Alumni will be going on a joint 7-day cruise beginning Sunday, January 30, 2011, on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Sea. We will leave from Galveston so no air is necessary. The ports are Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Falmouth (Jamaica). The latter port is now being used by most RCCL ships going to the Western Caribbean, including the Oasis and the Allure. The port is described as the "Caribbean Colonial Williamsburg" and should be interesting. Grand Cayman is very British and among the wealthiest islands. There is a lot to do in Cozumel, including day-trips to the ecological park Xcaret and the Mayan ruins at Tulum, as well as sipping margaritas at the open air bar on the plaza or lunching at Margaritaville, Senior Frog's, or Poncho's Back Yard.

Tom and Ty Brewer have been on the Voyager class ships five times and give them their full endorsement. They report that the highlight is the Royal Promenade, which is really a spectacular, four-deck high city street lined with shops and restaurants. The ship also features miniature golf, in-line skating (hey, you never know...!), Johnny Rocket's, golf simulators, and an ice rink with ice shows. It carries just over 3100 passengers.

All the specifics are in the fact sheet at the end of this newsletter. If you are interested contact Tom or Ty Brewer at 261-6741 or tbbsr@alumni.utexas.net. To get the best cabins, it is wise to book early and pay the deposit. You can cancel with a full refund of your deposit up to the final payment date of November 20th.

Come join the fun!
